Accomplished Pianist and Composer Sam Javitch Announces the Release of his Second Album "People and Places"

New York City-based pianist and composer Sam Javitch is proud to announce the April 15th release of his sophomore album as a leader, People and Places. A consummate piano prodigy, Javitch first came to the instrument at age 3 after discovering that he had perfect pitch. A natural improviser, Javitch was drawn to jazz at an early age and has established himself as a unique and distinctive voice on the contemporary jazz scene. This is evidenced by his phenomenal debut solo piano effort Train to Nowhere (2014), by his many performances at renowned locales such as Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, Joe’s Pub, Rockwood Music Hall, 55 Bar, the Jazz Room at William Paterson University,  and now, by the release of People and Places. Featuring Adrian Moring on bass, Matt Niedbaski on drums, and the renowned Rich Perry, known for his association with Maria Schneider and George Mraz, on tenor saxophone, People and Places represents the enormous gratitude Javitch has for the many people and places that have shaped him into the musician and person he is today. People and Placesserves as the perfect outlet for the Manhattan School of Music graduate, who has studied with Mulgrew Miller, James Weidman, Harold Mabern, and Cecil Bridgewater, to express his sincere appreciation. To celebrate the release, Javitch will be performing at Joe’s Pub on April 15th in New York City. “I learned how much effort and perseverance it takes to turn a musical idea into a reality. There isn’t some button you can push or a lever to pull, but when it’s done, it is one of the most gratifying feelings in the world.” People and Places, featuring seven original compositions, opens with “The Pitch To Rich”. Upon hearing Rich Perry play, Javitch envisioned the tenor saxophonist playing his compositions. When Perry agreed to appear on the album, the title to this song was born! Another stand-out track is “Honin Myo”; an ode to Javitch’s dear friend and practicing Buddhist, Sasha Ono. “Honin Myo” is a phrase that means “from this moment on”. This song speaks to the hope of starting anew each day no matter what adversity one may have faced before. “Parallel Modalites for Parallel Realities” speaks to all the choices we make in life that can lead to completely different paths. People and Placesalso includes “Lifted: a Song for Grew and Those Who Knew”, a tribute to his late mentor Mulgrew Miller, the great jazz pianist. Javitch is truly honored to bring each of these tracks to life with Moring, Niedbaski and Perry.  Each of these talented individuals, together in quartet form, truly brought their hearts, souls, and fire into every song on this album. He also expresses utmost appreciation to Cotton Coulson, the late award-winning National Geographic photographer responsible for the album cover. Javitch met Coulson on a trip to the Arctic, where the photograph which graces this album’s cover was captured. Alto Saxophonist Fabio Marziali - New Release "Windows and lights"

Born in a small village in the center of Italy, alto saxophone player (and multi-instrumentalist: flute, clarinet and piano) Fabio Marziali comes from a large family with little interest in music. Yet he started playing the piano at the age of eight and moved on to saxophone at age 10, joining the local marching band. At 14 years-old he was accepted to the Conservatory of Fermo, where he began studying classical saxophone. Four years later Fabio had his first encounter with live jazz music, thanks to a masterclass held by Italian saxophonist Maurizio Caruso from the Berklee College of Music. From that moment on, Fabio began studying jazz tradition and improvisation.  He is self-taught as there were no jazz schools around, no jazz players and no YouTube. He only had his saxophone, his piano, some jazz albums, deep curiosity, passion and a dream. In 2017, his dream came true, recording Windows and lights, an album of his own compositions with a stellar band in New York, at one of the most respected recording studios (Big Orange Sheep); accompanied by Jonathan Kreisberg on guitar, Glenn Zaleski on piano, Mat Clohesy on double bass and Colin Stranahan on drums.  Windows and lights is now available - March 2018.  Along with his passion for jazz music, Fabio began composing electronic and world music in 2015, releasing four albums and collaborating with artists including singers, poets and body painters. In 2016 he won third place at the "World Body Painting Contest" in Austria, the biggest festival in the world for this art form with more than 30,000 participants. Fabio played along with the body painting show performing one of his own compositions.

“Soul Serenade” "is the title of my newest CD project. Although not exactly a “tribute” album, it is more of a celebration of the music made popular by the great vocalist, Gloria Lynne. While performing on a recent gig with drummer Vince Ector (Gloria’s drummer for 15 years), I sang “I’m Glad There Is You”, and he reminded me it was one of Gloria’s signature songs. So, I began to research more of Gloria’s work and was instantly mesmerized by her voice, style and emotion. Additionally, her choice of material was instantly appealing to me. I tend to look for songs that are “beyond the norm” of the Great American Songbook repertoire. The songs Gloria Lynne recorded during her career stand alone in their originality and uniqueness. Her performances of these particular tunes move me every time I hear them. As with my previous CD’s, I always learn a tune and then work with it at the piano, making it an extension of what I’m hearing and feeling from the lyric and melody. I should note that I had never heard any of these 14 tunes before I was introduced to them by the wonderful Gloria Lynne recordings. My “concepts” for these 14 tunes came about after much study, deliberation and changes! I wanted to step away from the piano for this project in order to collaborate with someone else’s ideas that could influence the way I might want to sing a particular song. I feel that when you accompany yourself on piano the two elements are inseparable and it was time to do a project in a different way. I asked my dear friend Brad Cole to take my concepts and write the arrangements and orchestrations as well as to play piano/keyboards on this project. He seemed to know exactly what I wanted to do with each of these songs. I think we’ve come up with a fresh approach to this material that Gloria Lynne’s recordings influenced me to explore and ultimately record!” Love... Composer and Saxophonist Sharel Cassity Announces the Release of her Fourth Album as a Leader Evolve

Saxophonist and bandleader Sharel Cassity is proud to announce the April 6threlease of her fourth album as a leader and the debut release from her ensemble Elektra, Evolve. Comprised of a rich sonic landscape ranging from soul and jazz to rock and electronica Elektra's mission is to create groove based creative music that appeals to a modern audience. Cassity's material for this project includes both original music as well as crafty reincarnations of popular songs. Elektra includes some of the most renowned musicians in the industry today including trumpeters Ingrid Jensen, Marcus Printup and Freddie Hendrix, bassist Linda Oh, guitarist Mark Whitfield, pianists MikiHayama and Richard Johnson, vocalist Christie Dashiell, drummers Jonathan Barber and Lucianna Padmore and harpist Riza Printup. Evolve is indeed a celebration of evolution, and Cassity, with the help of this melting pot of talented musicians, delves into three separate stems of this particular subject. Showcasing a collection of artful originals and reimagined compositions by Alicia Keys and Bjork, Cassityconfronts the evolution of music, her own personal and artistic evolution and a push for evolution of the social climate (race and gender) in the United States. From performing with jazz fusion big bands such as the Revive Big Band led by Igmar Thomas and Nicholas Payton’s Television Studio Orchestra, to recording with folk singer Natalie Merchant to listening to Roy Hargrove’s RH Factor, Kenny Garrett, late Miles Davis, A Tribe Called Quest, Q Tip, Bjork and Robert Glasper, Sharel Cassity, throughout her decade-long career, has been exposed to an array of inspiring influences. Upon realizing that by continuing to only pursue traditional jazz, she would never totally fulfill her own abilities, Cassity began creating modern, relevant music that although still rooted in the rich jazz history, was innovative, creative and evolutionary. “I had to be honest to all of the music that had influenced me, that made up who I am in this day and time,” explains Cassity. Simultaneously, she also became aware of the fact that she had subconsciously classified herself as a “musician, a saxophonist” and now desired to explore every other potential pathway she could take, away from solely being a performing musician. She says, “I realized that I could create in any direction that I wished, go where I wished, do what I wanted--and that music would always be there no matter where I went.” Following a performance alongside Herbie Hancock and Jimmy Heath, Cassityrecorded Evolve the next day and that night flew to the middle east to perform at Jazz@Lincoln Center Doha and teach at Qatar Music Academy. Being away, building a new life with her husband and starting a family fueled more of her creativity than she had ever expected. Many of the songs on this album are anthems and prayers for change, love and hope, and so highlights the evolution of the current social climate. Cassitystands against any form of racism hate, discrimination or negativity and continues to hope for a universal agreement and unity on this particular stance. “Armed with information from our elders, paired with our own creativity, musicians have a responsibility to create music that reflects and reaches listeners in the current world we live in,” says Cassityin Evolve’s liner notes, adding, “I want to put out music that encourages the world to fight against that; to encourage people to dream for better, because there is always better.”

Long-term friends, they discovered, during a tour of Asia, in 2014, that they shared a common musical aesthetic and decided to form the duo Madeleine & Salomon with its minimalist music stamped in impressionist poetry. They took advantage of the Melbourne Recital Centre (Australia) invitation in June 2015 to rethink the American Songbook in their decidedly original fashion, and record their first album A Woman’s Journey. This homage to American female protest songstresses is enriched on stage by free improvisations inspired by dreamlike short films specifically edited from stock shots. A lonely voice, surveying a minor scale and reciting fundamentally feminist lines. Thus commences this first album of Madeleine & Salomon, “A Woman’s Journey”.  A minimalist and delicate duo tackling a humanist and rebellious repertoire.
